UNIVERSITY LAUNCHES ITS FIRST COURSE ON COURSERA

The massive open online course “Fundamentals of Financial Literacy,” developed by our university, has been launched on the international educational platform Coursera. This is the university’s first course to be published on the platform.
The course is offered in the Kazakh language and is led by Kundyz Myrzabekkyzy, Acting Professor at the Department of Economics, Finance and Accounting of the Faculty of Economics and Management.
The course aims to improve learners’ financial literacy and develop the knowledge and practical skills required to manage personal and family finances effectively.
The curriculum covers the fundamentals of financial literacy, money and payments, income and expense management, family budget planning, tax obligations, banking services, deposits and loans, insurance, and financial risk management.
Learners will also study the fundamentals of financial markets and investment, the returns and risks associated with investment instruments, and methods of financing individual entrepreneurship and start-ups. Particular attention is given to personal bankruptcy, debt management and maintaining financial stability.
Financial security is another important component of the course. Learners will discover how to recognise the main signs of financial pyramid schemes and fraud, protect their bank cards and personal data, assess suspicious financial offers and prevent potential risks.
The programme consists of video lectures, concise learning materials, quizzes, practical case studies, problem-solving exercises, discussions and peer-assessment activities.
Upon completing the course, learners will be able to compare financial products, plan personal and family budgets, assess risks and make informed financial decisions.
With the addition of this course, the collection of Kazakhstani massive open online courses available on Coursera has reached 43.
On behalf of our university, we express our gratitude to BMG UpSkill, a Coursera project partner, for its support throughout the development and publication of the course.
We look forward to launching more courses that showcase the university’s academic and educational potential in the international digital environment.
